Dr. Patrick Adenauer

Born in 1960, he studied business administration at the University of Cologne and graduated in 1985 with a degree in business administration. He subsequently obtained his doctorate, also at the University of Cologne. From 1985 to 1989, he worked at KPMG in New York and Düsseldorf.

Since 1989, he has been managing director of the Bauwens Group, alongside his brother Paul Bauwens-Adenauer.

Alongside his business activities, Dr Patrick Adenauer has been actively involved in economic and social institutions for many years. He served as President of the association ‘Die Familienunternehmer e. V.’ in Berlin from 2005 to 2011, and as President of the German chapter of the Family Business Network (FBN) from 2017 to 2023. He is also a member of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Berlin, the Ludwig Erhard Foundation e.V. in Bonn and the Cologne University Foundation.

Together with his brother, he founded the Cologne Grün Foundation, of which he is Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of TÜV Rheinland Berlin, Brandenburg, Pfalz e.V., a member of the Supervisory Board of SMS AG and a member of the Supervisory Board of the DuMont Media Group. Furthermore, he sits on the Board of Trustees of the Wohnhilfe Foundation and is a member of the advisory boards of Bayerische Landesbank, the Althoff Hotel Group and Deutsche Private Equity.
