Die Kölner Universitätsstiftung förderte Großgeräte für Praktika im Fachbereich Chemie

Positive feedback

For the 2021/2022 winter semester, we were able to provide the Department of Chemistry with around 214,000 euros for the purchase of seven large pieces of laboratory equipment. The equipment is primarily used by students from the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry as part of their practical training. The new equipment was first used during the winter semester 2021/2022 in the practical training module for the Bachelor’s degree programme in Chemistry in the fifth semester. Since then, the equipment has been used regularly as part of the practical training. In addition, some of the equipment is also used in the context of Bachelor’s theses. Dr Corinna Hegemann, the practical course coordinator from the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, has received consistently positive feedback from students regarding the new equipment. Some of the equipment, such as the X-ray powder diffractometer, is also used for research purposes outside practical session times due to its high-quality specifications.
