On August 10, construction work will begin on the comprehensive modernization and redesign of the reading rooms at the University and City Library of Cologne. The project is supported by the Cologne University Foundation through its “Technical Equipment” funding program.
The redesign will create bright, contemporary workspaces that meet the requirements of a modern learning environment. Large desks and sufficient power outlets will provide better conditions for working with laptops and other technical devices. Privacy panels with sound-reducing properties will also help create an environment that supports focused work. In addition, the carpeting, lighting, and electrical systems will be renewed.
During the approximately three-month construction period, the reading rooms will remain closed. Access to literature will continue to be ensured, and alternative workspaces will be provided in nearby buildings to minimize the impact on students.
The modernization will create an attractive and contemporary learning environment, offering students at the University of Cologne improved conditions for focused studying and working.
